Hatha Yoga Classes

Yin Yoga

A slow-paced style of yoga with postures or asanas that are held for longer periods of time.  The aim is to increase circulation in joints and improve flexibility.

SilverSneakers Classic

IMG_5099Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with  handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and standing support.

Motion Mondays

Jan 2 – Dec 31 | 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM

This action-packed program is for preschoolers who want to ride!  Bring your own scooter, Strider, Razor, tryke, bike, or any other wheeled contraption to the gym.  We will set up an obstacle course to ride in, on, and around.  The bounce house will also be set up.  This is a parent-supervised program.  Parents or caregivers must remain in attendance and supervise their children at all times.

Interval Training

Core Cardio

IMG_5196A great combo workout starting with 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of total body sculpting using the Pilates method that restores muscular balance while strengthening and stretching the body focusing on ones abs and back.

Chair Yoga

Taekwondo

Tai Chi

Tai ChiCome to this class and leave feeling calm, refreshed, and energized through a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner.

Health benefits include relaxation, balance, flexibility, and strength for people of all ages.  If you are stressed at work take a lunch time break and come feel the energizing effects of this class.

Tai Chi is a great counterbalance to yoga or alternative if yoga is not right for you.

Foam Rolling

Uncover everything that foam rolling has to offer to help keep your body in its proper alignment.  Learn what all the different varieties of foam rollers are used for.  Multiple class sessions are used to target different muscle complexes such as hip flexors, quads, shoulders, neck, and low back.  This class is designed to keep athletes functioning as their bodies should.  Foam rollers provided!

Enrichment Wednesdays: Open Gym/Facilitated Climbing

Sep 6 – Jun 6 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

One half of the basketball gymnasium will be available for Open Gym activities on Early Release Wednesdays from 2-4pm.  Sport options will include basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.  During Early Release Wednesdays ONLY we will allow kids 7 and up to access Open Gym.  (Please note that our normal age rules require anyone 10 years and under to be supervised by someone 11 years and older.)

Additionally, we will be offering Youth ONLY Facilitated Climbing for ages 11 and up.  MUST HAVE CLIMBING WALL WAIVER ON FILE.  Climbing Wall Certifications available at this time.

Drop-In Pickleball

Join us for indoor Drop-In Pickleball this winter and spring at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center.  We have paddles and balls for use during this time.  Pickleball is a great sport for any ability and any age.  For more information on this fast growing game, check out www.usapa.org.

Wild-N-Wacky Wednesdays

Get out of your house and stop by the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center for a variety of activities: bouncing in our bounce house, running through obstacle courses, bowling, tumbling, and scooting on scooters.  The gym will be set up for play, but be unsupervised.  Therefore parents must be present in the gym watching their children at all times.

Base Building for Cyclists

Mnoon-class-having-funonthly indoor cycling classes.  Pre-register for a specific time slot each month to guarantee yourself a bike.  Heart rate monitors are required.

Youth Basketball League

Dec 11 – Mar 9 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Basketball season is coming! Our leagues are designed to develop young boys and girls into fundamentally sound basketball players by teaching them basketball specific skills, teamwork, camaraderie, a strong work ethic, and more. We offer separate male and female leagues for both 3rd/4th graders & 5th/6th graders. Teams will practice once or twice each week with one or two games per week as well (practices are an hour to an hour and a half). The season will culminate with a tournament.  All participants will receive a shirt with their own number on the back. This is a more advanced yoga practice taught in Spanish.  It is a great class if you are looking for a more challenging Yoga routine.  The class is taught in Spanish, but don’t let it intimidate you.  This is a great way to improve your Spanish or learn especially if you already have yoga experience.

Must have current Climbing Wall Waiver on file at the CRCC.  Some clinics also require participants to be Level 2 certified at the CRCC–these certifications happen every Wednesday from 5:30-8:30pm and are included in any day drop-in or membership.

Top-Rope Climbing and Belay Clinic: January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, May 14 (5:30-6:30pm)
Learning to climb on top-rope is a great way to step into the vertical world of rock climbing, and is a fun way for climbers of all levels to practice technique and gain confidence on the wall. This course will teach you what you need to know to safely climb on top-rope and belay a top-rope climber, or serve as a refresher if you’re looking to solidify your knowledge.

Intro to Rock Climbing for Ladies:  January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12 (6-8pm)
Learn the basics of rock climbing and meet a supportive community of other like-minded ladies to climb with!  Topics include: top rope belaying, climbing technique, safety protocols, and fun activities to get practice and make friends.  Receive Level 2 certification through this class.

Indoor Lead Climbing Certification Clinic: January 18, March 15  (6-9pm)
Learn or refresh your knowledge on lead climbing, lead belaying, and build confidence through practice indoors. Must be Level 2 certified.

Anchor Building and Cleaning Clinic: February 15, April 26 (6-8pm)
Learn and practice several methods of building rock climbing anchors, when to use them, and several methods for cleaning the anchor to retrieve your gear.  Be a better, more knowledgeable climber and partner with this information!  Must be Level 2 certified.

Winter Adult Coed Volleyball League 4 vs 4

Jan 8 – Apr 2 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Jump, set, and spike your way into our 4-on-4 Winter Volleyball League!  This league is fast-paced and action-packed, offering nothing but a great time to those involved.  The league will consist of regular season play, followed by a single-elimination or double-elimination tournament (depending on how many teams register) to determine the league champion. In addition, the league is self-officiated with teams making their own calls.

Dodgeball Derivatives

Hey parents.  Do your kids need to run off some energy after school?  Do they like throwing things . . . at people?  Join C-dale Recreation for some organized and controlled, yet FUN dodgeball action.  We use foam dodgeballs and will explore the many variations of the game.

Winter Adult Pickleball League

Feb 18 – Apr 15 | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Each week you will have the opportunity to play 5 doubles matches to 11.  While you may be playing doubles, your point total will be recorded as an individual.  At the end of the season, the male and female with the highest point totals will be our champions and take home our coveted “Golden Paddle” trophies!  To encourage fair play, you can only partner with another individual once per evening.  That means each night you will have 5 different partners.  This will be a great way to meet others in the Pickleball community and help grow the sport!
